Crosby Beach
Crosby Beach is one of the most unusual seaside days out, combining a huge stretch of golden sand with world-famous modern art. Located on the Merseyside coast, the beach is best known as the home of Another Place by internationally acclaimed artist Antony Gormley. Spread across the sand and stretching out into the sea are 100 life-sized cast iron figures, all standing silently facing the horizon. Each one weighs around 650 kilos, and together they create one of the UK’s most striking coastal art installations. They’re fascinating to walk among, especially as the tide moves around them, and help mark safer walking areas.
