The Three Greyhounds Inn is a Proper Cheshire Pub with Classic Pub Favourites and the Best Beer Garden.
The Three Greyhounds Inn in Allostock, is a cosy Cheshire pub. Set in a beautifully restored 300-year-old coaching inn, it’s full of charm with its wooden beams, open fireplaces, and candlelit tables – perfect for a cosy meal. But when the sun comes out the pub is the perfect spot for a refreshing drink in their gorgeous beer garden.
The food is home made British classics, with personal favourites like the chicken, ham, leek, and tarragon pie, and the seafood platter packed with fresh, tasty bites. They don’t slack on dessert either – the chocolate brownie is a winner.

I’ve visited The Three Greyhounds many times — it’s a regular spot for me. It’s our favourite haunt for school mum catch-ups, where we enjoy delicious food and let the conversation flow late into the evening. This time, I swapped the mum crew for the family and headed there for a laid-back Saturday lunch after a whirlwind morning of kids’ clubs. Same great food, same warm welcome – just a slightly different crowd at my table!

What We Ordered:
• Smoked Haddock, Salmon, and Prawn Chowder
• Crispy Cauliflower and Vegetable Curry
• Children’s Sausage, Chips, and Peas
• Little Chicken in a Basket (from the Nibbles section) with a side of chips
Fish Chowder
As a bit of a seafood lover, I was excited to see a chowder as a new addition to the menu. It didn’t disappoint! The dish was generously packed with smoked haddock, chunks of salmon, and juicy king prawns, all swimming in a rich, creamy sauce. It came with slices of bloomer bread — perfect for dipping — and a pot of the pub’s delicious chips.
Crispy Cauliflower and Vegetable Curry
My husband, who always likes to choose something a little different, opted for the cauliflower and vegetable curry. It looked really intriguing: crisp, battered cauliflower bites sitting atop a vibrant, colourful vegetable curry.

Children’s Meals
There isn’t an official children’s menu at The Three Greyhounds, but they offer smaller portions of some main menu dishes. Choices include sausage, fish, or scampi served with chips and peas. My eldest chose the sausage and chips, while my youngest created her own meal by ordering the chicken wings from the Nibbles menu alongside a side of chips. It worked perfectly — the portion was just right, with five tasty wings to enjoy.

Can't not mention their PIES!
Even though i didn't order one of their legendary pies this time, this is a personal favourite of mine at the pub. Proper pastry and the filling is normally jam packed with meat and gravy. ⚠ Warning the pies will possibly leave you too full for pudding but are soooo worth it. They are honestly one of my favourite pies I've had.

Perfect Puddings
The pudding selection is always spot on. The Bramley Apple and Spiced Rum Crumble, served with a little jug of custard, is a standout—though I always wish there was more custard! Choosing just one dessert is no easy task, with options like rich cheesecakes, sticky toffee pudding, or a gloriously gooey banoffee mess. And for something simpler, there's always Cheshire Farm Ice Cream on offer.
A fully Stocked Bar:
The drinks list is impressive, with a great selection of local ales, wines and a quirky “Brandy Bible” for spirit lovers — a nice touch if you’re looking for something different

Soak Up the Atmosphere – Indoors or Out!
Step inside and you’ll find a cosy pub bursting with charm. Think ancient timber beams, crackling fires for chilly days, and snug little nooks made for quiet meals and good company.
Head outside and it only gets better. The beer garden is a countryside gem, complete with plenty of seating, a vintage tractor for the kids to sit on, and sweeping views of the farmer’s fields. It’s fully enclosed too, so the little ones can roam free while you relax.
Planning something special? Their rustic outdoor bar is perfect for weddings and events. Or you can kick back on the decked terrace under covered tables – the ultimate spot for a lazy Sunday or watching the sun dip below the horizon.

🐕Dog Friendly:
On our visit I noticed how dog-friendly the pub is. Dogs are allowed in the Brandy Snug, the bar area, and the garden, with water bowls, free biscuits, and even a special dog menu offering treats like Craft Dog Beer and freshly cooked sausages. The pub is also perfectly located next to Shakerley Mere for dog walks.

Events:
I got chatting to the manager and found out they do a few events through out the year. in particular Bonfire Night in November is a really popular one for locals. The pub sets off fireworks in a nearby field and you can view them from the pubs beer garden. Other events include Car Club meetups, Brandy Tasting evenings and the opportunity for you to hire the Dog Barn for your own special event too.
Love Live Music?
If toe-tapping tunes and cold pints are your thing, you’re in luck! There is a resident band who takes the stage one Friday a month to bring the vibes. Mark your calendar for their next gigs: 23rd May, 20th June, and 18th July — all kicking off at 7:30pm. Want more dates? Head to their website and plan your next night out.

Our Final Thoughts:
The Three Greyhounds serves up delicious homemade food in a warm, cozy setting, with friendly service for both locals and those just passing through from the M6. Its a great spot for a relaxed after-work drink or when you want good old, proper British pub food. Grab some friends to share one of their platters or book that special family meal and simply enjoy!
