There are some lovely little details to look out for too, from the dog friendly snug with doggy artwork on the walls, the comfy leather sofas in front of the fire in the bar, to the games room with darts and a pool table. It's the sort of pub that feels equally suited to a relaxed lunch with the family, a catch-up with friends or a drink beside the fire on a chilly afternoon.

The Beer Garden – Perfect for Families
While the cosy interior is lovely during the colder months, when the sun comes out, there's nothing better than sitting outside with a drink and something tasty to eat.
The Egerton Arms has a large, enclosed beer garden with plenty of tables, giving you lots of space to enjoy your food and drinks when the weather allows.
There's also a wooden children's play area, which is always a bonus when visiting a pub with the family. The children have somewhere to play while the grown-ups can sit back, relax and enjoy a bit of downtime.
The pub is also dog-friendly, making it a handy spot to stop for a bite to eat or a refreshing drink after a countryside walk.

Putting the Sunday Roast to the Test
We popped into The Egerton Arms after a lovely autumn walk, and by the time we arrived, we were more than ready to sit down and tuck into a proper Sunday roast. And let's face it, Sunday lunch always tastes that little bit better when someone else is doing all the cooking, doesn't it? 🍂🍽️
There were four roasts on the menu:
- Rump of beef
- Free-range pork
- Cheshire ham
- Mushroom and beetroot Wellington

We went for the beef and ham roasts, while the girls had their own mini roasts, which were a great option for them.
I always think you can tell when food is going down well when the kids start commenting on it without being asked. My 12-year-old even announced that the chicken was the best ever! High praise indeed!
Even better, the girls were happy loading their plates with vegetables, which is always a little win when you're eating out with children.

Of course, a good roast is all about those comforting classics: tender meat, crispy roast potatoes, fluffy Yorkshire puddings, plenty of veg and a generous helping of gravy. Just what you want after a chilly autumn walk!
Don't Forget the Extras!
We spotted a few extra sides and couldn't resist ordering cauliflower cheese, which is one of my teenagers' favourites.

And if a Sunday roast isn't your thing, the full main menu is available too, with pub favourites to choose from, plus daily specials on the blackboard. So there's plenty of choice if someone in your group fancies something different.
