Get ready to lace up, roll out, and level up—because Archie’s Atomic at Trafford Palazzo is bringing the ultimate retro-meets-modern experience to Manchester.
If you’ve ever imagined skating under disco lights, with a burger and a milkshake never too far away (though maybe not both in hand at once), then Archie’s Atomic at Trafford Palazzo could be your new happy place—it’s definitely mine! We had an amazing afternoon gliding around the rink, indulging in deliciously good food, and battling it out in the Arcade Arena for the ultimate crown of glory

This isn’t just a roller rink—it’s pure Archie’s magic from the moment you arrive. Step inside and you’re met with pink neon, bold graphics, and a party vibe that shouts, “Forget your age, just have fun.”
The rink itself is massive, the North West’s largest pink roller rink in fact, 5,000 square feet of smooth flooring ready for you to glide, spin, or wobble your way across. Overhead, a giant glittering disco ball scatters light across the floor while music played. Even if you’re more “hold the wall” than “figure eight pro,” the energy in here is so fun you’ll find yourself grinning the whole time.

I went along with my sister-in-law and our four girls, aged between 10 and 13. They’d been buzzing with excitement all morning at the thought of skating. Booking in, signing waivers, and getting sorted with skates and lockers took about 15 minutes, so it’s worth arriving early to make sure you get your full hour on the rink.
Once the girls were on, and after a few initial wobbles, they were off—gliding around, chatting, holding hands, and trying out little tricks. Us mums even got on the rink, and I was surprised at how quickly I found my balance. We were soon gliding around too (though no tricks for us!). It was great being out there with the kids—they loved zooming past, and my eldest took particular delight in lapping me.

Burgers - Fries - Shakes
We were all disappointed when our hour was up but we soon realised the fun wasn't over. Let’s be honest—this is Archie’s, so the food is half the fun. The diner is right there inside the venue, serving their famous burgers, loaded fries, and a milkshake menu that had us drooling.
We took our seats in one of the pink booths and waited for our food to arrive while sipping pink lemonade and shakes.
Between us we got wings, curly, crinkle and BBQ, bacon loaded fries, wraps and burgers. I personally got the Nashville chicken burger box meal with fries, mac & cheese bites and pink lemonade. The burger was loaded with crispy, spicy chicken and definitely hit the spot. We were all stuffed and ready for our next hour of chaotic fun. As we had also booked the Arcade Arena.
We grabbed one of the vibrant pink booths and settled in, sipping on pink lemonade and thick shakes while we waited for our food. Between us, we ordered a feast—wings (plain, bbq and piri piri) fries (curly, crinkle, and BBQ bacon-loaded), wraps, and burgers. I went for the Nashville chicken burger box meal, complete with fries, mac & cheese bites, and more pink lemonade. The burger was piled high with crispy, spicy chicken and absolutely hit the spot. By the time we were done, we were happily stuffed and ready for our next round of chaotic fun—an hour in the Arcade Arena.

Arcade Arena
This is an immersive gaming fault, similar to "The Cube" but without the props. You literally step into the game with room for 8 players, choose from 8 games, and be prepared for something like never before. It was seriously good fun, non stop action and laughter. The LED floors and touchpad walls meant you were the controller.
Jam-packed with specially created games and challenges designed to get you moving, thinking, reacting and competing. All set within a slick, premium feel 16ft x 16ft glass box
• Agility games
• Physical games
• Mental games
• Skill games
• Spelling wall games
• Floor and wall games

And wow—did it get us moving! We split into two teams of three, and the competition kicked in straight away. Our game master explained how everything worked and talked us through each challenge before we stepped inside. The computer kept score, selected the next game, and even showed us exactly what to do—it was incredibly clever.
We took turns tackling the games, with some challenges having us shouting out answers and helping each other, while others had us racing around, stepping on blocks, and dodging dangers, working up quite a sweat.
It was such a blast—and a complete surprise, as I had no idea what to expect before going. I even found myself sending videos to my husband, telling him we had to come back soon. At £20 per person, it’s on the pricier side, but absolutely worth it. In fact, it would make a fantastic kids’ party—up to eight people can play at once.

After all that exercise, we treated ourselves and the girls to something sweet, any excuse to dive into Archie’s menu again! This round, it was waffles, ice creams, and more of those famously thick shakes. I went for the “Go Bananas,” a sweet, creamy masterpiece so thick I had to wrestle the straw in. At 800 calories of pure heaven, I’m pretty sure I burned it all off skating and racing around… or at least that’s what I’m telling myself 😉
And if that wasn't enough, there is also a state-of-the-art arcade with everything from SEGA racing games to basketball hoops and a photo booth
Archie’s Atomic works for just about anyone. Kids can burn energy on the rink, teens will love the Arcade Arena, grown-ups get a hit of nostalgia, and the whole thing can be wrapped up with a burger and shake. Whether you’re here for a birthday, a date night, or getting the kids out of the house during school holidays, it’s one of those places where you cant wait to go back to.
