Highland Cow Experience at Grange Farm Lowton
Tucked away in Lowton, near Warrington, Grange Farm is a lovely family-friendly farm. From feeding the animals and meeting the beautiful Highland cows to enjoying lunch in the Barn Cafe. The farm hosts plenty of seasonal events such as a Pumpkin Patch, Fruit picking in the Orchard and Real Christmas Trees for sale.
We went along in the summer holidays for their Highland Cow Experience and it was literally the cutest thing. You can get up close with the gorgeous Highland cows, including some of the babies, and you can even brush their hair and feed them!

My daughters and I booked a morning slot, you go up to the wooden shed in the farm yard and show your booking email. Here you get given the food that's included in your ticket which is 1 bag of pellets to feed the cows. You can also choose to purchase extra food for the chickens and pig for just an extra £5 so we got one of those between us.
We walked over to where the cows were and WOW, they were gorgeous. There were the two older highland cows which the farm has owned for over 13 years and truly are loved by the farmers. Then there was a mix of younger cows and babies. There are plenty of cows to feed, so you definitely don't feel like you're fighting for their attention.

The number of tickets for each slot is really well controlled too. There were a handful of other families doing the experience at the same time as us, but it never felt crowded and we had plenty of time to take photos, feed the cows and just admire how ridiculously cute they all were!
There's also a member of staff there throughout the experience, so you can ask questions about the cows, which I actually found really interesting as i heard about them collecting the new babies ones only very recently and how they have introduced them into the rest of the herd.

Once we'd used up all our cow food, we headed over to see the other animals. Here is when we used the extra food for the pigs and chickens.
The pigs were SO cute and the girls loved watching them eat whole apples!
Even the chickens were adorable, happily eating seeds straight from our hands.
Top tip:
Make sure you wash your hands between visiting the different animals and again when you've completely finished. There's a hand-washing area nearby.
It was such a lovely, relaxed experience and honestly just so cute, so I'm really pleased we finished off our summer holidays with it.

You can also pop into The Barn, the on-site café and restaurant, for breakfast, lunch, cakes, afternoon tea and other homemade dishes. It’s a lovely option if you want to make more of a morning or afternoon of your visit rather than just coming for the Highland Cow experience.

There’s also a farm shop, selling a selection of local produce, food, gifts and goodies to take home, as well as a plant centre if you’re looking for something for the garden.
The farm also runs seasonal events and experiences throughout the year, so keep an eye out for these too which include a Pumpkin Patch and Selling Real Christmas Trees
