Our Accommodation - Hillside Cabin Platinum
Our cabin was absolutely gorgeous. Stepping up onto the fenced decking, we were blown away by the view, rolling hills in the distance and fields stretching as far as you could see. On the decking, there was a table with benches and a sunken hot tub, making it the perfect place to relax.

Inside, it was compact but cleverly designed to make the most of the space. A corner bench with a table sat opposite a kitchen that had all the amenities you’d need with gas cooker, fridge, etc. so it was perfect for cooking a proper hearty breakfast or dinner during your stay.

Towards the back, the cabin split into two levels. There was a pull-down double bed for the adults; when it’s not down, this area can be used as additional seating, but we left it down as the other seating was more than enough for us. Just past this was a small bathroom with a shower.
Now for the best bit and what the girls absolutely loved. Up a ladder, there’s a mezzanine bedroom with two low-level single beds. My daughters loved relaxing up there as it felt like their own little hideaway.
The Other Accommodation
Walking around the rest of the site, you can see there are lots of different types of cabins and lodges available. Some are more tucked away for couples, while others are larger and can sleep up to 10 people. The overall atmosphere of the site is relaxed and friendly with people strolling around in robes between the pool and their lodge, kids riding bikes along the paths, and others walking their dogs to the exercise area.
Facilities & Activities
On-site amenities include an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, steam room, fitness suite, and even spa treatments. For families, there’s a children’s play area, paddleboarding, kayaking, archery, and plenty of outdoor space to explore.
Swimming Pool
I was really impressed by the indoor pool it was heated and a great size. It had a luxurious feel, with sunbeds and wicker chairs around the edge where you can relax between swims or enjoy a drink from the café.
There’s also a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, and changing rooms.
Spa and Fitness
There’s a small gym available during your stay, but what we really loved was the spa. We’d been looking for somewhere that offered treatments for children, as our girls were keen to try a facial and are really interested in skincare.
We booked them both in for a 45-minute facial, and the beautician was fantastic, she made sure to use gentle, age-appropriate products and talked them through everything beforehand. They absolutely loved it and it really made our stay extra special.
Watersports
There’s a small lake with floating decking, which is used for paddleboarding and kayaking. Our girls chose paddleboarding, which they always enjoy.
There were two instructors out on the water with them, so we felt they were in very safe hands. The session lasted 45 minutes and included all equipment, board, helmet, and life vest. You don’t have to get wet, but I’d definitely recommend dressing as if you might fall in… because it can happen!
Other Things to Do
You can also book activities like archery or spend time at the children’s playground. There’s a toddler-friendly area as well as a bigger kids’ section. Be warned the larger play area includes an assault course that’s actually quite challenging and high up! It definitely put our girls (aged 11 and 14) to the test.
Onsite Café
The café is located within reception and offers breakfast as well as lunch and dinner options. The menu includes a good range of classic café meals like jacket potatoes, paninis, nachos, burgers, and pizza.
We ate there on the Saturday evening and found the food to be simple but tasty. It’s a great option if you don’t feel like cooking, especially as takeaway choices nearby are limited. You can also have food delivered straight to your cabin. During peak times, it’s open until 7pm, with last orders at 6:30pm.
Ordering a Takeaway
There are a few places that will deliver to the site. We ordered an Indian on the first night from Bahar, which was very nice.
Overall Opinion
This is a beautiful, “away-from-it-all” kind of stay. The cabins are quirky, luxurious, stylish, and a world away from your typical holiday parks.
Top tip: make sure you bring food and essentials with you, as there’s no quick trip to the shop if you forget something like milk or a toothbrush. That said, the nearest town is only a 4-minute drive away and has a shop, chippy, a couple of pubs, and a train station.
We really enjoyed our stay it had just the right balance of relaxation and activities. Our favourite moments were watching the sunset while sitting in the hot tub, taking in the views and chatting the evening away.
