Gootopia Cheshire is the North West’s first and only purpose-built slime venue, officially opening its doors on 17th May at Gate Farm Rural Enterprise Park in Nantwich. Founded by Helen and Westly Wilson, who bring over 20 years of experience in children's entertainment.
Gootopia is a hands-on, full on gooey slime hub designed for kids aged three and up. The venue offers slime-making workshops, birthday parties, and even school science trips, all designed to be inclusive and packed with sensory fun.

We were invited to experience the Original Slime Workshop at Gootopia, and with my girls being huge slime fans, they couldn’t wait to dive in. It turned out to be the perfect low-key activity for a chilled Sunday morning.
At the "Original Slime" workshop, kids get to create their own custom slime, choosing from a wide array of colours, fun mix-ins like glitter, foam beads, and shaving foam, plus scents such as bubblegum. The session lasted about an hour and kicked off with a short, funny slideshow all about slime — including some fun facts about animals that naturally produce it!
Helen, the owner, led the session herself and was fantastic with the kids. She has a natural way of engaging them, making the experience both fun and educational. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it didn’t take long before the children were completely immersed in the activity.
Each child was set up at the brightly coloured table with all the ingredients ready to go. Helen gave clear instructions while encouraging parents to step back and let the kids take the lead, which was a great way to promote independence and listening skills.
My girls loved every second. They got their hands sticky, giggled through the mess, and made a generous amount of slime to play with. One of their favourite parts was learning a new trick: creating a huge bubble on the table using their slime. It was a challenge they took seriously — and the joy on their faces when they finally nailed it was priceless and it made for some great photos too.
If I had one small wish, it would be for the kids to have a little more time to play and explore with their slime before it was packed away in the take-home box — especially since they were just hitting their stride and having so much fun. That said, the next activity was just as exciting and kept the energy going.
The finally was a group activity — a staff member brought out the biggest blob of slime I’ve ever seen, stored in a huge container. The kids gathered in a circle, holding it up together and slowly stepping backward to stretch it out. If a hole appeared, everyone had to rush back to the center and put the slime back in it's box. This had the younger ones in stitches, It was hilarious and heartwarming to watch. Best of all, each child got a share of the giant slime to take home.
At the end of the workshop, every child left with two pots of slime — extending the fun well beyond the session. We stopped by a café for lunch afterward, and instead of reaching for their phones, my girls proudly played with their slime at the table. That moment genuinely made me smile.
Overall, Gootopia is a brilliant spot for hands-on, creative fun that’s just the right amount of messy. And if you're like me and prefer slime-making to happen anywhere but your house, this is the perfect solution.

Gootopia Cheshire may be in its early days, but with Helen’s passion and the support of the wider Gate Farm community, it’s bound to grow — with even more workshops and events planned throughout the year. They’ve already announced a Family Fun Day this August, so be sure to follow them on social media to stay in the loop.
