The Lambing Shed Farm Shop & Kitchen

At The Lambing Shed, just outside Knutsford in Cheshire, there’s always something to enjoy, from the locally stocked farm shop and welcoming café to the outdoor play area and ever-changing line-up of family-friendly events that make every visit unique.

Set in over 400 acres of picturesque Cheshire countryside, The Lambing Shed is built on a proud farming heritage. The building itself once housed the sheep reared by Farmer Arnold Mitchell and his son Michael more than 60 years ago. Today, that legacy continues with a flock of over 2,500 sheep and a herd of 250 beef cattle, all carefully tended by the Mitchell family.

Since opening its doors in 2015, The Lambing Shed has become a place to celebrate the very best of its own home-reared, award-winning beef and lamb, alongside a handpicked selection of Cheshire’s finest food and drink.

Throughout the year, The Lambing Shed hosts a range of special events, inviting the community to share in everything the team is passionate about, from food and farming to family fun. You could visit for a relaxed lunch, a browse around the shop, or to take part in one of the farm’s seasonal events, such as pumpkin picking.

Ox Eye Daisy - Lou's Cottage Garden Shack

The Garden Shack is situated across the car park opposite The Lambing Shed. There are plenty of beautiful plants, shrubs, trees, pots, planters, baskets, garden accessories and gorgeous garden gifts to enjoy.

🛝 Children’s Play Area

Just outside the café, you’ll find an outdoor play area perfect for young children. It features a low-level wooden climbing frame with slides and a set of swings, all safely enclosed within a bark-covered surface. Nearby tables offer parents a comfortable spot to relax and enjoy a coffee while the kids have fun.

🥕 Farm Shop

Inside, you’ll find a butchery stocked with beef and lamb reared just metres away, plus a deli brimming with local cheeses, pies, and homemade sausage rolls, honestly this deli display made me want to buy everything. Shelves are filled with produce from over 40 local suppliers, from local Bradwell Bakehouse bread and brownies by Baked by Bean.

The shop’s warm, rustic atmosphere and genuinely friendly staff make it a joy to browse.

☕ Lambing Shed Kitchen

Their award-winning farm café, was crowned the UK’s Best Farm Café/Restaurant back in 2022. The menu looks so good for both breakfast and lunch and there is a whole kids menu with a good mix of choices and even a mini roast on a Sunday. There were some seasonal drinks including the yummiest Cinnamon Latte when we visited.
