Knights on Horseback to welcome us
Warwick Castle Hotel Entrance Knight on Horseback
What an entrance!

The entrance of the hotel is the best part of the hotel with a stunning knight on horseback which interacts with guests when they try to pull the sword from the stone. There are also portraits up on the wall who talk to each other from across the room.

The grand entrance just has the check in desk and a shop where you can get cold drinks, sweets and plenty of wooden swords for your little knights.

Walkway between hotel and restaurant

After our check in we went for walk around the grounds. There is a raised wooden path which connects the hotel to the Knights Village. This is where the restaurant and the rest of the Warwick Castle accommodation is including some very cool looking Woodland Lodges, Medieval Glamping, and the lavish Tower Suites.

Through the lodges and glamping is a grassy area beside the river where there is a large Medieval tipi. This is where the evening entertainment of knight school, have a go archery, sword fights and circus games are laid on for guests. My girls enjoyed the archery the best and it was great that the staff running the entertainment were dressed up as and in full medieval character. It was a gorgeous place to sit in the evening sun and relax while the kids played and we chatted to other guests.

At the restaurant in the evening, you could book a table to enjoy an "all you can eat carvery". We were booked in at 7.30pm so did miss a bit of the entertainment as this was on 6-8pm. The meat at the carvery was absolutely gorgeous, there were Yorkshires, stuffing and roast potatoes and a small selection of vegetables. There was also extras for children if they didn't like a carvery which included sausages, nuggets, pasta, hashbites and beans. For your starter there was a salad bar, and a fridge of cold gateaux's, jelly and cheesecakes for dessert.

Back at the hotel room for bedtime the girls were excited to try out their bunkbeds. The room was a great layout & design. The bunkbed were hidden so both adults & children had their own space. The medieval themed room had shields, swords and bedding which made the room really fun for the girls. We all sat in the king size bed and chilled watching the massive tv for a while before settling down for a brilliant "knights" sleep.

Breakfast Time

After a lovely morning walk around the grounds i collected the rest of my family from their cosy beds to go for breakfast. This was in the restaurant and a buffet style. There was a great selection, including warmed pastries, a full cooked breakfast, cereals, fruit, tea & coffee and fruit juices. And the classic self loading toaster which seems to take forever but this meant i could chat to some more guests while waiting. We were all excited to visit Warwick Castle after we had eaten.

Knights Tavern

The Knight Tavern is a great addition to Warwick Castle accommodation. It gives you a place to have a drink and relax after you have checked in while you wait for the evening entertainment to start. It serves hot drinks and has a full bar. It is also a place where you can get some light meals, a brilliant option if you don't want a full on buffet evening meal. The building is really cool, a proper wooden tavern so its fun and in keeping with the whole castle theme.

Children's Playground

I really loved finding this addition of a wooden children's playground on our most recent stay at Warwick Castle Hotel. It is right next to the Knights Tavern and the evening entertainment. With seating near by for parents so you can have a drink and chat while the kids play. Of course it is castle themed and has some great features.

Final Verdict

Staying at the hotel really made our visit to Warwick Castle more of an adventure, plus it definitely helped as we live 1.5-2 hours away so getting up and having a lovely buffet breakfast instead of driving for 2 hours to get there for 10am entry was a real bonus. The hotel rooms are fun, well laid out and super comfy. The evening entertainment was that little bit different and younger children especially would really love the sword fighting school and the playfulness of it all. The Knight Tavern is the perfect place to relax after a busy day in the castle and is really quirky and in keeping with the castle theme.
