Clip ‘n Climb Stoke is an indoor climbing centre that takes the traditional idea of rock climbing and gives it a bright, playful twist. Instead of plain climbing walls, you’ll find a range of colourful, themed challenges—each one designed to be fun, safe, and a little bit different. There are over 20 individual climbing stations, with names like “Skyscraper,” “Leap of Faith,” and “Twister,” each offering its own unique way to get you off the ground and moving.

When the summer rain rolled in and washed out our outdoor plans, we decided to brighten things up by heading to Clip ‘n’ Climb Stoke—and it turned out to be the perfect choice! The girls absolutely love an activity like this, one that makes them think as well as get active. I never hear a moan and the time just flies by as they are having so much fun.

We spent a fantastic hour conquering fears and climbing crazy walls, and honestly, it was a full-body workout disguised as fun. With 21 unique climbing challenges to choose from, there’s something for everyone. You’ll find timed speed walls to race up, wobbly ladders to test your balance, and even proper bouldering walls that make you feel like you're scaling a real cliff face.
Everything is set up with automatic belay systems, so once you’re clipped in, you’re free to climb at your own pace—no need for ropes, knots, or prior experience.

Don't worry if it's your first time — the staff take care of your harness and show you exactly how to clip on and off. They're always on the arena floor to help with the clips (which I find really helpful, especially as little ones can definitely struggle with this). They're also great at offering guidance if you need a hand conquering that wall!

Once you reach the top of a wall, there’s only one way down—letting go! You're gently lowered by the auto-belay system, but taking that first backwards leap can be a mental hurdle. I’ll admit, it took me a few tries to work up the nerve to do it—jumping backwards from 12 metres high doesn’t come naturally! But the girls, aged between 10 and 13, were fearless. They were up and down every wall, laughing the whole time.

Drop Slide
Then came the Vertical Drop Slide — a real highlight for all the girls. It’s an extra £2.50 per person, but absolutely worth it! They couldn’t wait to give it a go. Once suited up in an overall and helmet, they climbed in, grabbed the handlebar, and were hoisted all the way to the top.
The side of the slide is marked with numbers from 1 to 10, and it's a great challenge to try and hold on until you reach the top at number 10. All of them managed it, letting go at the highest point and zipping down the slide grinning from ear to ear.
We watched some younger children have a go too — even though they didn’t make it all the way to the top, they were so proud and brave for giving it a try, and they all slid down with big smiles.

Helpful Staff
The staff at Clip 'n' Climb Stoke were fantastic—friendly, helpful, and great with kids. They made sure our harnesses were fitted correctly, gave a clear safety briefing, and were always on hand to help us clip in, unclip, or offer a bit of encouragement when needed.

Beyond being incredibly fun, climbing is brilliant for building fitness, confidence, and resilience. The colourful, imaginative walls make the whole experience even more exciting. The moment our session ended, my girls were already asking when we could come back!

Food & Drink
After our climb the girls had worked up an appetite so we headed up stairs to the mezzanine cafe. The café area is great for parents to relax while still able to watch their children climbing and it has a good selection of reasonably priced food too. We ordered 2 toasties which came on really thick bread and a kids lunch box and it was under £12!

What Else Is at Clip 'n Climb?
There’s a small soft play area available for an extra fee — perfect for keeping younger siblings entertained while the older ones climb. Clip 'n Climb also offers a variety of packages, including birthday parties, corporate group bookings, and even a unique sleepover experience for Guides and Scouts.
