What we Thought
This was our first ever visit to LEGOLAND®, and honestly, we hadn’t done much research on the individual rides—so we had no idea what to expect. But that actually made the day even more exciting. Jumping on rides without knowing what was coming added a real sense of surprise and fun.
What makes LEGOLAND® Windsor such a fantastic destination for families with younger children is that they can go on almost everything. The rides are fun, colourful, and offer just the right amount of thrill—perfect for a first-time theme park experience. We visited with older kids (aged 10 and 13), and while they had a brilliant time, we couldn’t help but wish we’d come when they were younger—they would’ve absolutely loved it even more.
The whole park is vibrant, immersive, and packed with LEGO® magic, making it a dream day out for any LEGO fan. My 10-year-old and I are already plotting our return! I only wish it were a bit closer—being three hours from Cheshire means it’s tricky for a day trip. But turning it into an overnight stay, either at the LEGOLAND® Hotel or a nearby hotel, transforms it into a memorable little getaway that’s totally worth it.
Here is a little more about each ride and what we thought:

Flight of the Sky Lion
Our first ride and I absolutely loved it.
The park’s first flying theatre ride and one of its most popular! Soar through the skies with Maximus the Sky Lion on an immersive, cinematic journey across mythical LEGO® lands. You are basically sat with legs dangling and a feeling of being up high carried through the air.
It is similar to arcade VR machines where you sit and rock back and forth to a video in front of you. It is like that but on a much grander scale and with sprays of water and wind effects, all combined, to create a truly immersive & unique experience. In parts of it i lifted my legs up as i actually believed i was going to crash into a mountain, the experience totally immerses you. If you aren't keen you can always close your eyes if it feels too much.
You must be a minimum of 1m to ride, it is a popular one so does get long queues. We queued for just 20 minutes as took advantage of our early access with staying over.

Minifigure Speedway
Minifigure Speedway is LEGOLAND Windsor's newest and fastest rollercoaster — and it’s a brilliant addition for families looking for thrills with a LEGO twist. What makes it really unique is the shuttle-style launch: the ride pulls you backward up a hill before shooting you forward at speeds of up to 56 km/h. It’s fast, exciting, but still family-friendly with a minimum height requirement of just 1.05m. This was definitely our favourite of the day and as soon as we got off the ride we ran back round to join the queue to go again.

Fire & Ice Freefall
This ride features two mini drop towers—one themed around fire, the other ice. These rides offer just the right amount of thrill for younger adventurers, with sudden drops that bring squeals of excitement but aren’t too intense. It’s a great “starter” thrill ride, giving kids a taste of freefall fun.
Hydra’s Challenge
A really fun water attraction guarded by Hydra a giant LEGO sea monster. We boarded our jet-boats, each child with an adult and zoomed around the circuit with the kids at the wheel. We raced around the water track, swerving past blasts of water and unexpected sprays. It was great fun and the kids loved being in control.

NINJAGO® The Ride
A 4D interactive ride where you use hand gestures (no controllers!) to blast fireballs, ice, and lightning at enemies. This was cool and I loved the concept, however we found it a bit difficult to do and some of our movements weren't registering but hey just keep waving those arms about and have fun trying.
The Dragon
A thrilling family rollercoaster that starts by winding through a LEGO® castle filled with animated scenes before picking up speed outdoors. It’s a perfect first coaster for kids ready for more excitement. It has one of those coaster dips that makes your tummy feel funny and had us squealing as we zoomed round. Definitely a highlight of the day and i loved how you queued for the ride along the castle walls.

Haunted House Monster Party
The Haunted House Monster Party is NOT what it sounds. Be prepared to be rocked as the dinner table moves with sound, smoke and lighting effects. This one is super clever and makes you loose your bearings, you don't know which way up you are sitting.
Laser Raiders
Hop in a desert buggy, armed with lasers guns, as you aim at the bad guys. Shoot at mummies and hidden treasures to get the highest score. It’s great fun for competitive families
Some rides we have on our list for our next visit that we missed:
Coastguard HQ
Steer your own motorboat around a LEGO® waterway. It’s calm, interactive fun that families can enjoy together.
Viking River Splash
A spinning, splashing river rapids ride through Viking-themed LEGO® scenes. Expect to get wet!

Lego City Driving School
After watching a road safety video, young drivers can take the wheel of their very own electric car with accelerator and brake pedals. They then work their way around the LEGO city roads encountering traffic lights, roundabouts, LEGO policemen and even a speed camera. Children much be 1.1 m to drive but there is a mini version for smaller children. Additionally, if you're interested in a souvenir, you can purchase a personalized LEGOLAND Driving Licence with your child's photo. This can be booked online in advance, often at a discounted rate compared to on-the-day prices.

LEGO® Studios 4D
This indoor cinema experience combines 3D visuals with thrilling 4D effects—think wind, water, and even bubbles—to bring the action right off the screen. Featuring short films starring LEGO® characters from popular themes like NINJAGO®, LEGO® City, and The LEGO® Movie, it’s a great way to take a break from the rides while still enjoying plenty of excitement.

Miniland
While you can’t see the whole world in a day, exploring Miniland might just be the next best thing. Built from an incredible 40 million LEGO® bricks, this area features detailed recreations of iconic landmarks from around the globe—including scenes from Europe, the USA, China, and beyond. Spot famous London sights like the London Eye, Buckingham Palace, and Canary Wharf, then wander past international icons like Times Square, the Taj Mahal, and the Sydney Opera House. It’s a great place to slow down, take in the detail, and enjoy a peaceful break from the rides and queues.

LEGO® Rides for Younger Kids
LEGOLAND® Windsor is packed with fun for even the tiniest builders, and DUPLO® Valley is the go-to zone for toddlers and preschoolers. The highlight? The world’s first DUPLO® Dino Coaster—a gentle, colourful rollercoaster perfect for a little thrill without the fear. Budding pilots can also take flight at the DUPLO® Valley Airport, where kids control their own spinning propeller planes.

Other favourites include Splash Safari, a water play zone with friendly DUPLO® animals (ideal on sunny days), and the charming boat ride through Fairy Tale Brook, where classic stories come to life in LEGO® form. Don’t miss DUPLO® Express, a mini train perfect for little adventurers, or DUPLO® Playtown, a soft-play village packed with interactive fun.
Beyond the rides, there are plenty of creative play spaces and live shows featuring LEGO® characters, making it easy for younger children to stay entertained, learn through play, and create magical family memories.

What’s the Best Age for LEGOLAND Windsor?
LEGOLAND Windsor is perfect for kids aged 4 to 11. Most children in this age group are tall enough (over 90cm) to go on the majority of rides and will love the mix of fun, adventure, and LEGO magic.
Children aged 2 to 4 can still have a brilliant time too! Areas like DUPLO Valley, Fairy Tale Brook, and the Enchanted Forest are designed with little ones in mind. While under-90cm guests can’t go on as many rides, they can still explore, play, and enjoy the experience — and even better, under-90cm children go free.
If your kids are over 11 and into fast, high-adrenaline rides, LEGOLAND might feel a bit tame. It’s still a fun family day out, but older thrill-seekers may prefer parks with bigger coasters and more extreme attractions.
My 13 year old went on the rides and enjoyed them but she did find some very tame and said they weren't worth the queue if we had waited 40minutes for it.
My 10 year old really enjoyed the rides and in particular the LEGO building activities, she would have enjoyed some more thrilling rides too but would like to go back and do the rides we missed out on.

Check Heights Before You Go
It’s a good idea to measure your child’s height before your visit. As a general rule, kids over 1.1m can go on nearly all the rides. If they’re over 1m, there’s still a solid selection of attractions to enjoy. However, if your little one is under 1m, you might want to hold off visiting just yet—ride options are quite limited at that height. There’s a reason entry is free for children under 90cm!

LEGOLAND® Souvenir Cups
Unlimited soft drink refills all day!
On entry to the park, you can buy souvenir cups which can be refilled for free all day. These are £16 each but if you PRE BUY these online they are a lot cheaper. They also are pretty big and make a nice memento of the day. We refilled ours 3 times during the day, the girls enjoyed filling their cups up from the vending machines and now they are using the cups at home too.
Buy multiple vessels and save even more! Get one vessel for £13, 2 for £11 each and 3-6 for just £10 each. Plus, bring back your vessel on a future visit and recharge it for just £6 each!
FREE STUFF
LEGOLAND® Windsor has some thoughtful freebies that make a big difference. There are water bottle refill stations throughout the park—perfect for staying hydrated without lugging around multiple drinks or constantly buying bottled water. Even better, there are free SPF 50 sun cream dispensers available, a brilliant touch that shows LEGOLAND® is thinking about family comfort and safety.
Take your own waterproofs!
The log flume and Duo rides get you VERY wet! Ponchos are available in the park by the Knights Kingdom Castle but at £5 a pop (or 4 for £20) We chose not to do the water rides on our visit due to forgetting waterproofs and it being a cold day.
During the Summer Splash Safari is open, a water play zone with friendly DUPLO® animals. You need a full change of clothes or bring your swimsuits and a towel for this.

Can I Bring My Own Food and Drink to LEGOLAND®?
Yes, you absolutely can—and we did! We made a quick supermarket stop on the way and packed a picnic with tasty sandwiches, saving money while still enjoying a treat. Bringing your own snacks is a great way to keep everyone’s energy up throughout the day. While there is a bag check at the entrance, they’re not focused on food and drinks, so feel free to bring what you need.
Q-Bot Regular: Enhancing Your Theme Park Experience at £19 pp if prebooked ( May 25)
Q-Bot Regular is a virtual queuing system designed to help you make the most of your time at Legoland. Instead of physically standing in long lines, Q-Bot allows you to reserve your spot in a ride's queue through your mobile.
As your virtual wait progresses, you're free to enjoy other attractions, grab a snack, or explore the park. When your waiting time has elapsed, you’ll receive a notification and can go on the ride—either through a dedicated Q-Bot entrance or via the ride’s exit, depending on the attraction’s setup.
Upon arrival, the ride operator will validate your Q-Bot reservation, and after approval, you're free to book your next ride immediately. This seamless cycle continues throughout the day, maximizing your enjoyment while minimizing time spent in lines.
This is your cheapest option, There are also Q-Bot Express and Ultimate which means you have even less time waiting but comes at with bigger price tag.
My opinion on Q-Bot
We didn't use this system but did see a lot of people using it. We found the queue ok and as expected really when you visit any theme park. Some queues we had to wait 40mins but some were only 5 - 10mins so i don't think it was worth it unless you are going on a really busy day.
LEGO Adventure Mini Golf
After an amazing time in the park, swing over to the LEGOLAND® Adventure Golf and experience the world's first LEGO-themed indoor golf experience 'fore' the whole family – with four different LEGO-themed courses to master.
